What is Viper GPS 210V?
Viper GPS 210V is the device that is installed into a vehicle to facilitate communication between the vehicle and its owner/driver. Viper GPS 210V combines computing intelligence, a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and a wireless communications transceiver.

What is Viper GPS OnLine?
Viper GPS OnLine is the web interface that enables the user to access vehicle information and receive automatic notifications via the Internet. The user can also manage their vehicle account online.

What is the Viper Telephone Interface?
The Viper GPS Telephone Interface enables the user to perform Actions on a vehicle via a touchtone phone.

What do I need to access Viper GPS OnLine and the telephone interface?
You will need your User ID and Password that you will create yourself on www.Vipergps.com after the installation is complete. You will need your vehicles VIN number, GPS systems Electronic Serial Number (ESN) and a credit card to create an account.

What is an Action?
Viper GPS Actions are instructions that can be communicated to Viper GPS 210V equipped vehicles, from any Internet access point or touchtone phone, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

How do I send an Action to my vehicle on the Internet?
Log-in into your account. Select your vehicle from the Vehicles Tab. Click an icon on the top Action menu on Viper GPS OnLine. The selected Action will be completed on your vehicle.

How do I send an Action to my vehicle using a touchtone phone?
Dial phone number indicated on the user guide and enter your User ID and Password. If you have more than one vehicle in your account, select the number that corresponds to the vehicle you want to perform an action on. Follow phone menu prompts to select the action you want to perform (i.e. to locate your vehicle, press 1 on the keypad). You can choose to wait on the line to receive the result of the action or select another one or hang-up.

How long does it take to Locate my car?
It typically takes approximately 15 seconds to Locate your car with Viper GPS, but it can take up to a maximum of 2 minutes. It all depends on the cell phone network coverage where your vehicle is located.

When I disable my vehicle, does it stop in the middle of the road if it is running?
No. The next time your vehicles ignition is turned off and then on, it will not start.

If I disable my vehicle and then park underground, will I be able to enable it?
The ability to enable your vehicle when parked underground depends on the cellular coverage in the area. In most cases, underground parking garages do not have cellular coverage; therefore the Enable Action will not be able to communicate with your vehicle and your vehicle will not be enabled.

Can I send one Action after the other to the same vehicle, without pausing for the first Action to complete?
Ideally, you should wait until the first action has completed before sending a subsequent action.

-However, the following Actions can be sent in any order to the same vehicle immediately following each other:
  • Locate on Demand, Door Unlock, Starter Disable and Starter Enable.
- The subsequent Actions sent after the first Action will be queued to start immediately after the previous Action is complete.
  • Continuous Tracking can be performed in conjunction with a Starter Disable and Starter Enable Action only.
  • A Locate on Demand and Door Unlock Action cannot be performed simultaneously with the Continuous Tracking Action.
  • The Starter Disable and Starter Enable Actions are processed after the first location is complete for the Continuous Tracking Action.

What is an Automated Alert?
Viper GPS Automated Alerts are automatic notifications of events, circumstances or conditions, which are constantly monitored and reported by Viper GPS equipped vehicles.

What is an Alert Notification?
An Alert Notification is the method of delivery of an Automated Alert to a user including e-mail, phone and e-mail enabled handheld devices in virtually real-time.

How can I receive an Automated Alert Notification from Viper GPS?
You can receive Automated Alert Notification on your e-mail, phone and e-mail enabled handheld devices in virtually real-time. You are able to choose how you would like to receive Alert Notifications by entering a phone number and/or email address under the Notifications button on Viper GPS OnLine.

Can I turn Alert Notifications on and off?
You can select the Alert Notifications you would like to receive by selecting On or Off on the Notifications page of Viper GPS. You can choose to receive all, none or a selection of Alerts. For example, if you are traveling across the border for a vacation, you may want to turn off the Border Crossing Notification for the interim. Please note that Alerts will always be sent to Viper GPS OnLine (the website) whether the Notifications are turned on or off; therefore your account will be debited a Connection each time an Alert is generated.

What are Early Theft Warning alerts?
These Alerts let you know that a theft on your vehicle may be occurring. These include: 1. Security Alarm a warning that your car alarm has been triggered. 2. Unauthorized Movement alert, which warns you that your car has been moved while the ignition is off. 3. Battery Disconnect alert, which warns you that your vehicles battery has been tampered with.

What should I do if I receive an Early Theft Warning alert?
Since these alerts indicate a possible vehicle theft you can: 1. Report the theft to the police and provide the location information. 2. Disable your vehicles starter so the next time it is turned off and then on, it will not start. 3. Track the movements of your vehicle for 30 minutes. 4. Speak to a Viper GPS customer representative to support the recovery of your vehicle with local authorities.

What is a Connection?
A Connection is a term to denote a Viper GPS Alert or Action. Connections are the number of Alerts and Actions available in your account. Each time an Action is successful or an Alert is processed, a Connection(s) is deducted. The number of deductions made is dependent on the Action performed or Alert processed.

How accurate is GPS (Global Positioning System) technology?
GPS is the most widely used global positioning technology. Originally developed by the US Department of Defense, GPS is used for many different applications including, offshore ocean navigation, direction finding, exploration and vehicle locating. Without Selective Availability, GPS is accurate to within a radius of 6.3 meters of a location (95% of the GPS points fall within this radius).

How can I be assured that Viper GPS services will work in the future since technology changes so rapidly?
Viper GPS services leverage stable, reliable technology platforms with the ability to implement future technological advancements. Viper GPS is developed to support emerging wireless platforms and devices to ensure future value and avoid obsolescence.

Does Viper GPS work everywhere?
There are inherent limitations to wireless communications and the Global Positioning System (GPS). Viper GPS uses industry standard cellular wireless communications networks (cellular) to communicate with fleet vehicles. Therefore, vehicles must be within cellular coverage to communicate. Cellular networks currently cover approximately 95% of populated North America. The GPS transceiver in Viper GPS 210V must have a direct line of sight with three or more of the 24 satellites in the GPS constellation to provide accurate location information. Underground parking garages, concrete enclosures and urban canyon are some instances when the direct line of sight may be obstructed.

How secure is the Viper GPS Web Interface?
Customer accounts on Viper GPS OnLine are password protected and your confidential account information is protected by one of the most secure forms of encryption widely available for Internet browsers (Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128 bit encryption).

How is my car recovered if it is stolen?
If your vehicle is stolen, we recommend contacting the local authorities and working with them to recover your vehicle. Viper GPS will let you know that a theft on your vehicle may be occurring via the Early Theft Warning Alerts and provide you the ability to Locate, Track or Disable the starter of your vehicle to help in the recovery process.

You will be asked to provide: VIN, plate number, color, make/model/year of vehicle.
  8. Viper GPS call center with YOU on hold will contact Police and conference you into call.

There are fail safes built in if the vehicle is tampered with in the form of Early Theft Warning Alerts (i.e., Battery Disconnect).

Is there a warranty on the Viper GPS device?
Yes, there is a warranty for the duration of the first service term.

Can I purchase more Connections after the initial purchase?

How does Viper GPS ensure the privacy of individuals?
Please reference the Privacy Policy Statement on www.Vipergps.com.

How long will 100 connections last?
Connections are being deducted as the user performs actions or the system sends alerts and notifications. Once an Alert gets forwarded to an e-mail or to a cell phone, that is called a Notification. Connections for Actions, Alerts and Notifications are deducted as follows:
  • Actions. 1 Action costs 1 Connection, except Continuous Track action which cost 7 connections. Connections are deducted only for actions that got completed.
  • Alerts. 1 Notification cost 1 Connection.
  • Notifications. 1 Notification costs 1 Connection.
For example if an end user has a Speed Minder alert set to be forwarded to both his e-mail and cell phone that will cost him 3 connections each time the Speed Minder event happens:
  • 1 connection for the Alert
  • 1 connection for the Notification to an e-mail
  • 1 connection for the Notification to a cell phone.
