Bi-directional communication on the CAN Bus lets Directed’s system function seamlessly, allowing the aftermarket security system remote controls to operate factory security, and the factory remote to operate the aftermarket alarm. It also includes a time-saving T harness, providing plug-in connection to virtually any Directed system.

CAN1 installs quickly and cleanly between the CAN bus and the Directed security system, to provide 2-way digital communication between the security system and the vehicle. CAN is already the most widely-used bus architecture in European vehicles, and the U.S. automakers are beginning to adopt it as a robust, error-resistant platform.

Functions controlled by CAN1 include, Lock and Unlock, Factory alarm arm and disarm, Windows open and close, Trunk release, Driver’s priority unlock. Additionally, CAN1 can turn the Headlights, Parking light flash, Hazard lights and radio on or off. CAN1 can also read the engine speed and brake pedal and provide outputs for use with aftermarket remote start systems.* CAN1 comes with a universal harness and a T-harness that will allow CAN1 to plug into most Directed systems with a 12-pin main harness.
